nLog: The Logging and Reporting System
nLog is a distributed enterprise-wide alarm and events management system. This system implements the Object Management Group (OMG) Telecom Log Service standard and is written entirely in Java

We've extended the logging and data transport interface to support XML to ensure complete platform independence. The nLog system can support an unlimited number of logs. The log structure is defined via an XML schema which allows logging of any kind or format of data.

The nLog system is comprised of client, admin and server components. The server resides on a centralized host while the clients run in a distributed environment. The nLog server stores incoming events/alarms into a database (any user defined database that is JDBC compliant) and performs scheduling and notification processing. The nLog system can run on any platform that supports Java™ 2 version 1.3 or greater. Capabilities of nLog include:

• Runs on Windows NT, 95/98, 2000, ME, XP and Vista; Sun Solaris; Linux; any platform with JRE 1.3 or later support

• Real-time OPC Alarm & Event Client

• Message filtering to view only certain types of incoming messages

• Column filtering to view only a specified subset of each message

• Foreground and background colors triggered by events/alarms

• Notifications of particular events/alarms sent to e-mail, pager, printer, file, or screen pop-up

• Query and Save current log entries to a file on your local filesystem

• Search events/alarms via user defined criteria

• Store events/alarms into any JDBC complaint database (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Sybase, hypersonic, and many more)

We have added an OPC (OLE for Process Control) Alarm & Event Data Source allowing events/alarms generated from any OPC A&E server running on a Windows™ machine to take advantage of nLog's feature-rich environment for event notification, sorting and filtering.
