Version 2.0.2 of Naknan's Security Assistant Released
1 August, 2008 — Naknan today announced release of version 2.0.2 of Security Assistant, a powerful tool for organizations concerned with IT security. The new version includes Audit-On-Demand, which can verify the integrity of all executables and shared libraries on a device whenever needed, as well as changes to improve the security of the tool itself.

Derrick Luckett, Director of R&D, stated that the most important change in this release may be the way all communications are now handled. "Previously, we used nShare, Naknan's proprietary protocol, for all control communications and ftp for file transfers. With this new release, we use nShare for all communications, whether control or data. Using this encrypted, proprietary protocol makes the system even more secure." nShare, based on technology transferred from NASA, has been in use by Naknan customers for more than seven years without a single reported software error or intrusion.

With release of Version 2.0.2, Security Assistant brings powerful capabilities to enterprises of all sizes. Mr. Luckett continued, " We audit all files on all drives on all devices; we constantly monitor for the appearance of new executables and shared libraries; and, we maintain the software baseline of each device in the enterprise."

Noklek Naknan Finley, President and CEO of Naknan, stated "This is just the latest step in the evolution of this magnificient new software product. Anyone who reads our latest white paper, which can be downloaded from http://www.naknan.com/files/Peer-to-Peer and Other Dangers.pdf, will immediately see the value and necessity of this product."

Boeing takes Naknan under its wing

Houston Business Journal - September 10, 2007

Information technology products provider Naknan Inc. has joined with aerospace giant The Boeing Co. to participate in the U.S. Army's Mentor-Protégé Program.

Naknan, a Houston-based woman-owned business, will work with Chicago-based Boeing (NYSE: BA) as part of the Future Combat Systems program, which provides mutual beneficial development assistance to small businesses looking to compete in the marketplace.

Besides being a reseller of IT products and supporting the Army’s Future Combat Systems Program, Naknan has developed proprietary software products used by the European Space Agency and the German Space Agency for sharing information among dissimilar platforms. The company also produces Secure Patch Manager for securely deploying software patches and updates to many types of platforms.

April 2, 2007

Naknan's much anticipated security product, Secure Patch Manager Version 1.0, is being deployed at its first Beta sites; Version 1.1 is soon to be available for marketing and sales.

For those of you who haven't heard of this new product provided by Naknan, here's a brief rundown.

The Secure Patch Manager (SPM) concept is the combination of many years of observation and research of how System Administrators have historically delivered software updates and patches to their computer end users.

Naknan's quest to improve on the old process began in 2005. A sincere effort to develop a more secure and reliable process lead the Naknan software development team to creating a software update and patch system that gives a System Administrator unbelievable accuracy, security, and reliability in the controlled scheduling of software patches and updates.

In order to make the patching process as secure as possible, Naknan's software development team used the proprietary and proven nShare protocol for all control functions within the product. Additionally, since the nShare protocol is in use at other customer locations, we changed the protocol itself in the manner in which many internal actions are performed to make this control protocol truly unique. This uniqueness is intended to make the product more difficult for intruders to penetrate and corrupt.

What used to be a process filled with trepidation and concern is now made as easy as analyzing a company's computer network to determine the computers to be managed, auditing those computers to establish which patches and updates are needed to become current, and allowing the customer to schedule and manage the patches and updates from one central location. After initial installation and setup, many of the routine patch management activities are automated. And no matter the size of the enterprise, all patch management activities can be controlled and managed from a central location.

One of the unique characteristics of SPM is its ability to furnish patches and updates on different platforms running different operating systems. Currently we support Microsoft and Sun Unix operating systems. In the near future, we intend to support other Unix platforms as well as Linux platforms.

We have received much positive feedback from potential customers and are excited about the future of SPM.

The exports referred to are for software products developed by Naknan, based on core technologies that were transferred to Naknan by NASA/Johnson Space Center's Technology Transfer Office. Naknan invested a considerable amount of time and money in further developing and enhancing the technologies before selling them first to Boeing for use in the Engineering Support Rooms, then to the European Space Agency(ESA)
